Position Summary
The OSP Engineer’s job is to observe and maintain existing and ongoing projects. The engineer ensures that everyone in their charge follows all network quality requirements. The ability to multitask and work in coordination with the team provides an added advantage. Additionally, candidates should pose a strong desire to work in a collaborative team environment and be a champion for continued improvement. This position will work out of our Coeur d'Alene Idaho office. The position will report to our VP of OSP Construction.
Position Responsibilities
- Must have an in-depth understanding about the outside plant construction techniques
- Must handle issues related to fiber networking, routing, and network management
- Will take care of the aerial and underground construction and engineering requirements
- Will develop mitigation and restoration methods for emergencies conditions such as fiber damages, power failures and other disasters. It is the OSP Engineer will apply approved technologies and architectures to specific requirements
- Work with local and regional vendors and service providers for seamless customer turn-ups
- Build and maintain close relationships with the Fatbeam construction team, vendors, project managers, and sub-contractors
- Development of new market expansion
- Assist in sub-contractors bid management process
- Use a specific engineering discipline to plan, design, and implement telecommunications systems, networks, and plant facilities
Education and/or Experience, Certificates, Licenses Registrations
- At least two years’ experience working with State, County, and City Government permitting departments
- Two years’ Project Management experience – Sales Force experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- Previous experience in the outside plant telecommunications industry, specifically Competitive Fiber Networks
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Clean driving record required
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills required
- Detail oriented and extremely organized and efficient
- Strong computer experience with spreadsheets, project management and scheduling tools, etc. is required
- Estimated 50% to 65% field travel required
Other Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of ArcGIS and related fiber management programs.
- Maintain and update records in fiber inventory system with very high detail.

Additional information
Fatbeam requires a background check and the acceptance of a basic non-compete documents for all employees. The background check takes 3-5 days.
