Position Summary
The Digital Workplace & IT Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for end user support and the core systems and platforms that enable Fatbeam’s internal operations. This role manages end user devices, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, cloud infrastructure, and supports our Azure‑based data and analytics environment. The position combines hands‑on support with ownership of services including our intranet, collaboration tools, and secure access to applications and data
and the enablement and governance of AI tools and policies across the company. This position may sit in our Boise or Coeur d'Alene, ID office.

Key Responsibilities

End user support and infrastructure

  • Provide excellent customer support by resolving tickets and incidents onsite and remotely.
  • Configure, install, maintain, and troubleshoot end user systems including laptops, peripherals, and core business applications.
  • Maintain systems with regular updates, imaging, and hardware/software upkeep.
  • Identify and implement improvements in network efficiency, reliability, cost effectiveness, and security.
  • Strengthen cybersecurity and firewall posture; identify weaknesses, implement safeguards, and respond to incidents.
  • Secure and manage corporate data across cloud systems, including backups, retention, and access controls.

Digital workplace, Microsoft 365, and intranet

  • Serve as primary administrator for Microsoft 365 services (Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online) and related SaaS platforms.
  • Own the company intranet in SharePoint / Microsoft 365: site structure, navigation, templates, and permissions.
  • Partner with HR, Operations, and other departments so intranet content is accurate, organized, and easy to find.
  • Promote best‑practice use of Microsoft 365 tools to improve collaboration and productivity, including light training and how‑to guides.

Azure and data platform collaboration

    • Work with the team to design and maintain a secure, well‑managed Azure environment for Fatbeam’s data lake and analytics platform.
    • Help provision and manage Azure resources related to infrastructure and data (subscriptions, resource groups, virtual networks, private endpoints, identity/RBAC, and policies) in line with best practices and internal standards.
    • Implement and maintain access controls, security configurations, backup/recovery settings, and cost‑management practices for Azure services used by the data platform.
    • Assist with basic automation and deployment tasks (scripts, templates, runbooks) that support data pipelines, storage accounts, and related services.

AI policy, adoption, and enablement

  • Drive the rollout and ongoing refinement of Fatbeam’s internal AI and automation policies in partnership with leadership, security, and HR.
  • Help evaluate and configure AI capabilities within Microsoft 365 and other approved platforms, ensuring they align with security, compliance, and data‑governance standards.
  • Promote responsible AI adoption by providing guidance, examples, and light training so teams understand how and when to use AI tools effectively in their day‑to‑day work.
  • Develop simple playbooks, FAQs, and best‑practice guides that show employees how to use AI tools to streamline common tasks (documentation, communication, reporting, etc.).
  • Work with department “champions” to identify high‑value use cases, collect feedback, and continuously improve AI enablement across the company.
  • Monitor usage, identify risks or misuse, and recommend improvements to controls, training, and processes related to AI tools across the company.
  • Train teammates on systems, security best practices, and effective use of the digital workplace.
  • Document infrastructure, configurations, and procedures to support continuity and scalability.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

 

Collaboration, training, and documentation

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in desktop support in a Microsoft‑centric environment.
  • Knowledge of network security, operating systems, security protocols, and standard security tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 / Office 365, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft and Apple operating systems.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 or SharePoint sites (structure, permissions, configuration) preferred.
  • Exposure to Azure administration (identity, subscriptions, resource groups, or networking) preferred; willingness to learn Azure data platform basics expected.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, CISSP, SANS, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Knowledge of server infrastructure, VM hypervisors, storage, and core network services

  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions, timelines, and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer‑service mindset, strong collaboration skills, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods.
