Position Summary
The FTTH Construction Manager oversees the construction and delivery of fiber-to-the-home projects, including aerial and underground outside plant (OSP) work. This is an on-site position that reports directly to the FTTH Project Manager. The Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, in tandem with the Project Manager. The role requires expertise in permitting, pole and conduit licensing, contractor management, and construction standards to ensure successful fiber network deployment.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction & Design Integration
- Retrieve, analyze, and interpret Right-of-Way (ROW) metrics and Public Utility Easement (PUE) regulations to ensure all planned construction aligns strictly with legal, municipal, and property boundaries.
- Conduct preliminary reviews of internal plant design to proactively account for field conflicts and variances.
- Collaborate with Project Management to identify design risks and recommend strategies to prevent construction issues.
Field Execution & Contractor Management
- Oversee construction contractors and subcontractors across multiple concurrent FTTH projects to ensure accountability and high performance.
- Inspect and monitor fieldwork daily for strict compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Enforce safety protocols and quality assurance standards as the primary on-site representative.
- Conduct project completion walkouts to deliver to project manager for formal sign off on contractor deliverables.
- Manage drop installation pipelines to meet service level agreements (SLAs), conducting on-site consultations with customers to successfully resolve property constraints and custom requests.
Project Administration & Coordination
- Provide regular reporting to the Project Manager on contractor performance, safety metrics, and overall project progress.
- Manage the full permit lifecycle, including sourcing required documentation, submitting applications to local and state authorities, and tracking approvals to maintain the construction schedule.
- Coordinate with permitting agencies and irrigation districts to secure timely crossing and right-of-way approvals while fostering strong, collaborative partnerships.
- Evaluate and validate vendor adder requests for varying soil conditions, ensuring rigorous CapEx budget management and fiscal accountability in coordination with project manager.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings, delivering clear updates on project milestones, risks, and schedules.
Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Relations
- Proactively resolve field issues, escalating critical structural or timeline concerns to project manager immediately.
- Collaborate with construction vendors to resolve homeowner inquiries and escalations promptly and professionally, taking ultimate accountability for driving these issues to a successful resolution and maintaining a positive community experience.
Experience / Education / Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent field experience).
- Experience: 3+ years of construction experience, with 2+ years specific to telecom or FTTH builds.
- Execution: Proven experience managing outside plant (OSP) aerial and underground construction required; inside plant (ISP) experience preferred.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and oversee projects from start to finish.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with fiber testing methods (OTDR, power meter, loss testing) preferred.
- Compliance: Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards preferred.
- Logistics: Clean driving record required. Flexibility for nights/weekends as needed.

Additional information
Fatbeam requires a background check and the acceptance of a basic non-compete documents for all employees. The background check takes 3-5 days. This offer would be pending upon the results of the background check.
